Your KickoffLabs data is always accessible via insightful reports that help you learn more about your audience, conversion rate, and other important metrics.

Currently, KickoffLabs does NOT report the number of social share button clicks on thank you pages (clicking share to Facebook, Twitter, etc).

This is generally viewed as a vanity metric (easily manipulated and does not necessarily correlate to numbers that really matter). Anyone can sit and click “share” any number of times.

We believe it’s more important to focus on reports like conversion rate (% of people that signed up) and viral boost rate (% of people that come through referrals).

If you insist on tracking social share button clicks, you must use an event tracking tool like Google Analytics AND have Google Analytics installed on your KickoffLabs thank you page.

Within Google Analytics, events are user interactions with content that can be tracked independently from a web page load… like a download, video play, or button click.

If you’re using Google Tag Manager, click here for the outlined steps.

How to track social share button clicks:

1. From your campaign dashboard, navigate to the thank you page where you want to track social share button clicks.

2. From the right-side, click the ⚙ gear dropdown and select Edit Tracking Codes.

3. From the Analytics Tracking Codes page, navigate to the “Custom Conversion Tracking” section and add the following code:

<script>
$("#share_facebook").click(function() {
  ga('send', 'event', 'KickoffLabs Social Share', 'Facebook Button Click', 'KickoffLabs Thank You Page');
  return true;
});

$("#share_twitter").click(function() {
  ga('send', 'event', 'KickoffLabs Social Share', 'Twitter Button Click', 'KickoffLabs Thank You Page');
  return true;
});

$("#share_email").click(function() {
  ga('send', 'event', 'KickoffLabs Social Share', 'Email Button Click', 'KickoffLabs Thank You Page');
  return true;
});
</script>

If you feel so inclined, you can safely update only the following with your own unique values:

  • KickoffLabs Social Share
    The category of the event taking place.
  • Facebook Button Click
    The interaction that is taking place.
  • KickoffLabs Thank You Page
    The label of the event taking place.

4. Track additional social network button clicks by adding the pertinent code, just below the last code right before the closing </script> tag.

$("#share_google_plus").click(function() {
 ga('send', 'event', 'KickoffLabs Social Share', ‘Google Plus Button Click', 'KickoffLabs Thank You Page');
 return true;
});

$("#share_pinterest").click(function() {
 ga('send', 'event', 'KickoffLabs Social Share', ‘Pinterest Button Click', 'KickoffLabs Thank You Page');
 return true;
});

$("#share_reddit").click(function() {
 ga('send', 'event', 'KickoffLabs Social Share', ‘Reddit Button Click', 'KickoffLabs Thank You Page');
 return true;
});

$("#share_tumblr").click(function() {
 ga('send', 'event', 'KickoffLabs Social Share', ‘Tumblr Button Click', 'KickoffLabs Thank You Page');
 return true;
});

$("#share_digg").click(function() {
 ga('send', 'event', 'KickoffLabs Social Share', ‘Digg Button Click', 'KickoffLabs Thank You Page');
 return true;
});

$("#share_wordpress").click(function() {
 ga('send', 'event', 'KickoffLabs Social Share', ‘WordPress Button Click', 'KickoffLabs Thank You Page');
 return true;
});

$("#share_whatsapp").click(function() {
 ga('send', 'event', 'KickoffLabs Social Share', ‘Whatsapp Button Click', 'KickoffLabs Thank You Page');
 return true;
});

$("#share_telegram").click(function() {
 ga('send', 'event', 'KickoffLabs Social Share', ‘Telegram Button Click', 'KickoffLabs Thank You Page');
 return true;
});
