Fraud detection helps you separate real word-of-mouth growth from low-quality or suspicious activity. Review these settings before a public giveaway, waitlist, or referral campaign starts driving traffic.

Open fraud protection settings

Advanced Fraud Protection is available on eligible paid plans.

  1. Open the campaign dashboard.
  2. Go to Setup → All Settings.
  3. Select Advanced Fraud Protection.
  4. Update the settings you want to use.
  5. Select Save Fraud Settings.

Fraud Detection

Block suspicious referral sources

Use the custom referral block list to mark referrals from specific domains as fraud.

This is useful for sweepstakes directories, coupon-share sites, or other communities where visitors may be more interested in free prizes than your product.

Add one domain per line. After saving, referrals from those domains will be flagged according to your fraud settings.

Block disposable or low-quality email domains

KickoffLabs flags many known bad email domains automatically. You can also add your own email domain blocklist.

Add one domain per line. Leads using email addresses from those domains will be marked as fraudulent after the setting is saved.

Review fraud flags on a lead

When a lead is marked as fraudulent, KickoffLabs displays a fraud indicator on the lead record.

Open the warning indicator to see why the lead was flagged. If you decide the lead is legitimate, you can manually accept the lead.

Before launch:

  • Enable CAPTCHA if your campaign is likely to get spammed.
  • Add known sweepstakes or low-quality referral domains to the block list.
  • Add disposable email domains you already know you do not want.
  • Test at least one normal signup and one referral signup.
  • Decide whether fraudulent leads should count toward rewards, waitlist rank, or winner selection.
