Header image size for simple box pages

Last reviewed: 2026-10-15

Pages that use the Simple box layout put the whole campaign in one card. The image at the top of that card is a wide, short banner, so most images made for social media are cropped when you use them there.

Recommended upload: 1440 × 540 pixels (8:3). Keep faces, products, and anything important inside the middle 1200 × 430 pixels.

The header image fills the banner and stays centered. Anything that doesn’t fit is trimmed equally from the top and bottom (or the sides on narrow phones).

ScreenBanner sizeShape
Desktop and tabletAbout 720 × 216 pixelsAbout 3.3 : 1
PhoneCard width × 150 pixels (about 343 × 150 on most phones)About 2.3 : 1

The 1440 × 540 size is twice the desktop width, so it stays sharp on high-resolution screens. It shows about 80% of its height on desktop and loses only a little from the sides on phones.

The bottom of the banner is darkened slightly so the countdown and entry count stay readable. Avoid putting important details along the bottom edge.

Common social sizes are much taller than the banner. This is how much of each one’s height stays visible on desktop:

Common sizeShapeHeight visible
1200 × 630 (link preview)1.91 : 1About 57%
1920 × 1080 (widescreen)16 : 9About 53%
1080 × 1080 (square post)1 : 1About 30%
1080 × 1350 (portrait post)4 : 5About 24%

A 1200 × 630 or widescreen image can work if the subject sits in the center band. Square and portrait images usually lose too much. Text placed in an image is likely to be cut off, so put the prize name and details in the page text instead.

When someone shares your page, the link preview uses the image set in Page settings → Link preview. If you haven’t set one, it uses your campaign’s sharing image, then the page’s header image. Link previews are 1200 × 630, so a wide header crop looks squeezed there.

For the best result, upload a 1200 × 630 version of your image under Link preview and the wide 1440 × 540 crop as the header. See Page settings for where the link preview lives.

  1. Open Pages & forms → Edit.
  2. Select the image at the top of the box and choose Replace image.
  3. Pick a photo from Unsplash or your library, or upload your own. See Add and replace page images.
  4. Preview desktop and mobile to check the crop, then publish.

The Box background image in the layout settings is a different image: it fills the screen behind the card and is dimmed. Any large landscape photo works there, such as 1920 × 1080.
