Connect Mailchimp

Last reviewed: 2026-09-23

Use this connection to send new campaign leads to a Mailchimp audience. Create the audience in Mailchimp and obtain its API key before you start. Keep the key private.

  1. Open the campaign in the KickoffLabs dashboard. Go to Leads → Lead delivery.
  2. Under Connected services, select Connect beside Mailchimp.
  3. Enter the Mailchimp API key and select Load Mailchimp audiences.
  4. Choose the Audience you want to receive leads.
  5. Under For a new Mailchimp subscriber, choose Send double opt-in confirmation, Add without sending an email, or Do not add the subscriber. Match this choice to your signup and consent process.
  6. If you want captured campaign fields beyond the standard lead fields, enable Send captured custom fields. The current form says these fields are sent with a KickoffLabs prefix.
  7. Select Connect Mailchimp. Return to Lead delivery and confirm that Mailchimp shows Connected.

The API key is not shown again after it is saved. To change the destination audience later, open Manage for Mailchimp. Review any field mapping or subscriber behavior again after changing audiences.

Submit a fresh signup through a published campaign source. Confirm the lead appears in KickoffLabs, then check the selected Mailchimp audience. A double opt-in subscriber may need to confirm Mailchimp’s message before appearing as subscribed. KickoffLabs campaign emails and Mailchimp messages have separate settings; review both to avoid sending an unintended pair of welcome messages.

This connection is for delivery from KickoffLabs to Mailchimp. To bring an existing Mailchimp list into a campaign, use the campaign lead import workflow instead.

For leads that joined before this connection was enabled, use Mailchimp contact import instructions after exporting the appropriate KickoffLabs audience. Test the live connection separately with a new lead.

Need help? Email support@kickofflabs.com with the campaign URL, Mailchimp audience name, test lead email, and any error shown. Do not send your API key.
